Hello!
I use baselayout2 and rc_parallel="YES" in /etc/rc.conf.
Kdm waits until dhcp has got it's IP. Is there any way to set in rc.conf not to wait?
I tried rc_net_strict_checking="lo" but with no effect. _________________ "Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous."

One suggestion is reducing its timeout period in /etc/conf.d/net:
dhcpcd_eth0="-t 8" # Timeout after 8 seconds
I'm not at a gentoo machine so I can't give you the best direct advice on changing the general behavior, but you could try editing /etc/init.d/xdm and see if it has dependencies listed to wait for networking, I can't remember if there is a different mechanism that makes it start only at the end of the boot sequence. |

I had xdm in boot runlevel for a long time without a problem.
I just want to push net.eth0 (dhcp) into the backround and not interfering 3 or 4 secs with kde bootup. _________________ "Coincidence is God's way of remaining anonymous."
