Hello
I have problem with switching resolution on my intel gm4500 card to 640x400. Default for my laptop is 1280x800 and this is what xrandr says on supported reolutions:
Code: |
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 800, maximum 8192 x 8192
VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
LVDS1 connected 1280x800+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 261mm x 163mm
1280x800 60.0*+
1024x768 85.0 75.0 70.1 60.0
832x624 74.6
800x600 85.1 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2
640x480 85.0 72.8 75.0 59.9
720x400 85.0
640x400 85.1
640x350 85.1
TV1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)

All of them work besides 640x400 and 640x350. When I switch to 640x400 my screen goes black until I set it back to default. 720x400 works but it isn't default aspect ratio for my monitor. I've also tried it on windows and it didn't work. Do you thing it's hardware related problem/limitation or I should do something more besides typing xrandr -s 640x400? |

It is possible that the display will not handle the refresh rate properly. Maybe you can use cvt -r, xrandr --newmode and xrandr --addmode to create a video mode with 60 Hz. |

I've tried and it didn't work. It handles 85 hz with 720x400 properly. I'm going to experiment with it later, thanks. |
