I want to use a sound notification when a new message arrives in kmail.
I configured different sounds but all of them stops playing after approx. 1 second. I tried several types of sound files .wav, .ogg, .mp3 - it is all the same. Playing this files with the command play was OK.
What could be the problem? _________________ Please notice the back of this message. |

Maybe kmail doesn't support sounds greater than 1 second...I think for a mail notification, it's long enough.
Same is the case with K3b, you can see the default sounds, they all appear to be chopped towards the end. _________________ My blog |

What sound system are you using, I had that problem with Alsa and used OSS fir my sound files. Never had a problem since. _________________ Gankfest™ (>")> ~*

I am using alsa. Isn't OSS deprecated?
Other apps like amarok are working well. It seems just to be a problem with kde notifications. _________________ Please notice the back of this message. |

Ya i know, I use Alsa for everything but notifications. I had this exact same problem a long time ago, where Alsa would play a second or two of a notifaction and cut out, but then I switched to OSS for notification's and never had the problem again. You can have both installed at the same time and only use OSS for notifications and Alsa for everything else. _________________ Gankfest™ (>")> ~*

How did you do that, use OSS just for notifications?
Thanks for your hints. _________________ Please notice the back of this message. |

I'm having this problem, but it's more like the beginning of the sound that is being clipped off.
For example;
My "You have mail" is closer to "ou have mail."
