debugging

I'm working on some python based programs, virtinst and libvirt. They have glitches, I perused the gentoo bug reporting page and tried gdb and strace, According to the man page, gdb only works in programs made in C ++ and fortran, which explains why it doesn't touch the packages.

What debugger is appropriate for the these programs?

Your favorite IDE may do that (Eclipse did debug python nicely). There is PDB.
