When I compile the latest ffmpeg I get the following error:

The system is a x86 P4 with mmx instructions. On and64 it's OK. Any thoughts?

Yes, there's already a bug about it - it looks like
a compiler problem with inlining.

I have that exact same version of ffmpeg installed on ~x86. No problem.
Code:
# qlist -Iv media-video/ffmpeg
media-video/ffmpeg-0.5_p20373

CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS="-march=native -O2 -pipe"
LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1 -Wl,--sort-common -Wl,--as-needed"

Curious, I have very similar settings. I am using gcc 4.3.4.

Thanks, I finally managed to find a bug report. USE=-pic solves the problem.

Confirmed - using -pic worked for me on my Atom 330.

Every time I do a new install or a seriously overdue update, ffmpeg always gives me some sort of trouble!

Thanks!
