Gnome 2.26.3 major JPG issues [solved]

Seems the problem is not just limited to the appearance applet, I'm having problems doing all sorts of things involving gnome and jpg files. Rhythmbox segfaults when attempting to play an mp3 with .jpg cover art, eog segfaults when attempting to open a .jpg, while .png and .gif work just fine. Nautilus segfaults when attempting to generate a thumbnail of a jpg. Gimp won't even open any more (no segfault message, no nothing). Epiphany segfaults when trying to open a jpg, but simply doesn't display jpgs embedded in web pages.

Oddly enough, firefox works fine, both opening and viewing inline jpgs. jpeg is in my make.conf.

Did you do jpeg 6.2->7->8 properly ?

I...uh...I'm in the process of doing a revdep-rebuild --library libjpeg.so.7 right now, is there anything else I should be doing?

edit: that didn't do it.

did you emerge -uavDN world?

This problem started right after I did a emerge -uDN world

I tried a revdep-rebuild --library libjpeg.so.8 as well, and nada.
