cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf

Code: Select all

Try using the xorg.conf file with the evdev driver (also check if there isn't something in it overriding your xorg.conf.d/10-evdev.conf file)

And on a side note, putting output that you deem necessary in

Code: Select all

blocks makes it more readable. :)

no xorg.conf and only three file are placed under xorg.conf.d. They are 10-evdev.conf,
50-nouveau.conf

Code: Select all

Section "Device"
        Identifier "nVidia card"
        Driver "nouveau"
EndSection
and 96-synaptics.conf

Code: Select all

Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "touchpad"
        Driver "synaptics"
        Option "AutoServerLayout" "on"
EndSection

I read this guide: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/x ... -guide.xml
And put only the following to xorg.conf

Code: Select all

Section "InputClass"
	Identifier "mouse-all"
	Driver "evdev"

	MatchIsPointer "on"
EndSection
but mouse still can not be use!!

try with this:

Code: Select all

Section "InputDevice"
	Identifier "touchpad"
	Driver "synaptics"
	Option "AutoServerLayout" "on"
EndSection
It seems like you do have xf86-input-synaptics installed so it should run :-)

I putted them to 96-synaptics.conf, and touchpad works. But neither USB mouse or keyboard can be used !!!

Is evdev enabled in the kernel?

Code: Select all

grep ^[^#].*EVDEV /usr/src/linux/.config
Is evdev enabled in make.conf?

Code: Select all

egrep 'INPUT|VIDEO' /etc/make.conf
Did you rebuild your x11-drivers?

Code: Select all

emerge -1 $(qlist -IC x11-drivers)
Is udev built with the extras USE flag, and a high enough version?

Code: Select all

eix -I udev

I did rebuild x11-drivers.

before upgrading xorg-server 1.8, I also use evdev as input driver.

I've got udev-149 version as stable.

Have you done an emerge --sync lately?

Edit to add: I see you're using Linux 2.6.34-rc2, you might try the 2.6.33 series and see if the problem persists.

Oh I see, your having fun. :)

You need to unmask udev-151

Code: Select all

sys-fs/udev **

Code: Select all

>=sys-fs/udev-151

Indeed, without udev-151, you don't have any input devices :P
