|
|
Hi all,
I'm running with the latest xulrunner as part of my usual Gentoo installation.
However, our office is using a xulrunner-based application, that only works on an older version (1.9.1).
Is there any way that I can run this application while keeping the latest xulrunner? -- I'm thinking slotting or just a good old (non root) local installation of the older xulrunner...
Any ideas?

Slotting is not something that Portage can automagically do. It's something that has to be built in the ebuild/eclass infrastructure on a package by package basis. Best thing to do is to look at the Gentoo Development Guide and the source code for some common slotted ebuilds (e.g., sys-libs/db, dev-lang/python) to see what they do. You would also typically need to set up some sort of slot select tool, like an extension to eselect.
Now, that said, looking at how xulrunner installs currently, it's very nearly slot ready as-is. What that means is that it'll be a pretty easy task to modify the ebuild to install into slots.
