My qmpclient keeps just crashing too, with no errors in the terminal.
It looks like it might be a QT problem? This happens as soon as you click on a different session to restore(the sessions are over sftp).
Any ideas?

I'm currently rebuilding my entire tree incase a package was updated and didn't get caught in revdep-rebuild.
I've also noticed I can sometimes crash 'plasma' in KDE if I click on the info icon that lets you know of system notifications, sometimes if i click it too quickly, it causes the entire task bar to seg fault and restart. |

Try KDE and kate from a new testuser account to see if those problems are persistent. |

I created a brand new user on my machine, opened kate, opened a some files, saved the session. Did another session with different files. Closed kate, opened, then clicked around some on the different files, and had it crash again.
After doing the complete emerge -e kde-meta I notice in qmpdclient the "blue highlighted song" is much much darker.
I also have it to a point where I can open Kate, switch sessions to one with only one file open, open the dialog to open a second file, click on any other file to open(a bunch of php ones in different directories I've tried), and it will cause kate to crash as soon as i try to open one of the files. |

Anyone got any ideas on this?
since moving to 4.3.5 Kate crashes frequently when opening a file.

I don't have an answer, just a second motion. Since the switch from KDE 3 to KDE 4 Kate seems to be much less stable. My most frequent crashes occur when switching sessions. I have noted crashes on several different machines and accounts, x86 and amd64, including one where KDE 4 was installed from the beginning (so no legacy settings).
Though I have read and enacted the Gentoo backtrace document Konqi says that my backtraces aren't useful, but only for Kate crashes. Other applications like Kopete do have useful backtraces. |
