Have you not seen this? The U.S. is in no position to give out free lunches. | surely you put the health of the people over money? | Cokey, people can get health care already. This bill is going to flat out bankrupt the country, increase unemployment, and reduce liberty. | Ok, you're going to have to bear with my lack of knowledge for a moment but after an initial outlay the system should cost less (anything would cost less than the current system), help employment (no need to buy insurance for employees = more money/higher employment and increase liberty because health will be one more thing you won't have to worry about. Taxing money off people for health is no different from doing it for the roads |
I don't think you understand what this bill does for the costs of employers (not a shock, most people don't).
Read this. | one question, "[the bill] would increase medicare taxes". Medicare taxes? I don't understand |

No, this is the teabaggers bullshit. They are the ones that claim to believe in a religion whose namesake advocates selling all your belongings in order to donate the proceeds to the poor. _________________ Stand With Mittens |

Btw, one point. This bill has been thought up by some pretty smart people so surely has some chance of making the country better?

1. The people who devised the bill are, in fact, extremely intelligent.
2. I don't see much hope of this doing any good for the nation as a whole. |

No cokey, a vast majority of Americans are opposed to the Senate's health care bill (which just got passed by the house). It's full of pork, special favours (crony capitalism), and massive buy offs with public funds for certain senatorial votes. Nebraska is now immune from spending on health increases... that was done to buy Nelson's vote. That means every other state is getting ass raped to pay for them. That is one example of many in that disgusting bill. _________________

You mean the ones that still support him. Of the many Obama voters I know IRL, only two still support him (and they are wayyyyyy out there in left field).
Obama is now @ 56% disapproval and only 43% approval. Congress is in the teens. _________________

I'll can the irony for the moment, this bill isn't designed to be hurtful to anyone and passing it through the senate now gives Obama the ability to concentrate on the economy, no?
Hell, in a few years you might be out of the economical mess *and* have a decent healthcare system. Although, by the sound of it it may need to be more socialised to start saving much money - it's actually just moving the money around to different places at the moment |

This bill exacerbates the economic mess. Without the money to fund this POS bill, it just accelerates the bankruptcy of the nation. 38 states are passing laws barring the federal government from the "mandate" in this bill... without the mandate (which is unconstitutional, hence 38 states are now going to start blocking it) it will just send another entitlement into the death spiral of debt.... which we can't ignore.
While Bush spent like a drunk... he had a 400 billion dollar deficit. Obama's current deficit is 1.4 trillion dollars before even considering this bill.
And the debt... too scary to mention, so just click the link dreadlorde posted on page 2. _________________

Are you high? The president must sign every spending bill, it is Obama's fault for the 1.4 trillion dollar deficit. _________________

he had a choice of spending the money, creating a 1.4 trillion dollar deficit and the country staying in recession for 3-4 years or not spending it, the country staying in recession for 10 years and never ever being able to compete on a global scale ever again.
He was between a rock and a hard place, whichever one he chose would have been wrong. |

And you believe this?
Look around, we are in a recession, and since passing the bill unemployment went up over 3%. The bill was a massive blowing of money.
History can be our teacher, because at least it has went up against that thing called "reality". Every recession where the government did nothing ended quickly and healed on its own. The two recessions where Keynesian bullshit was applied (the gread depression and the current one) has made the situation worse. _________________

So, if I drop my current health-care I'll be fined? How does this bill help me find a new job or start a business? Is this going to increase my investment options? How will this help create other new businesses to make my living costs more affordable?
Oh wait. I guess people in Washington only care about the poor people - altruism is good. That reminds me - I've got to fill out my unemployment next week. I don't know what'll happen in a year when it runs out. Maybe I'll just lie on the form so they can throw me in jail.
I love this country. _________________
