|
|
Hi all,
Yesterday I wanted to print something but nothing happened.
It's a combo so I tried the scanner,it worked ok,so it wasn't
the USB connection.
I then tried copying w/o the computer,no problem either.
So it was something in my set up.
This printer has worked fine for years.
When it's not in use I switch it off.
I finally found the problem here:
| Code: | /etc/cups/printers.conf
# Printer configuration file for CUPS v1.3.11
# Written by cupsd on 2010-02-27 15:38
<DefaultPrinter Myprinter>
Info Epson
Location Here
DeviceURI usb://EPSON/Stylus%20Photo%20RX560
State Disconnected or Turned Off
StateTime 1267281530
Accepting Yes
Shared Yes
JobSheets none none
QuotaPeriod 0
PageLimit 0
KLimit 0
OpPolicy default
ErrorPolicy stop-printer
</Printer> |
I also found a printers.conf.0
This one had
The rest was identical.
I copied that one to /etc/cups/printers.conf and the printer worked again.
During emerge -uD world the printer is usually turned off.
Any comments will be appreciated.

I finally found what is causing this:
Kde system settings contains "Printer Administration".
That's what did it.
Needless to say I removed it.
