I am trying to install gentoo using the minimal-amd64 disks but i am unable to proceed.
The boot cd starts booting and hangs with the message:
Looking for cdrom ...
Attempting to mount /dev/sda
! ! Media not found
Could not find cd to boot ....
any ideas ? |

Hi,
Try changing your CD type in your VMware config to be "Emulated" rather than "passthru"
EDIT: Also try downloading the latest autobuild image as all images are not the same

I've just tested booting the 20100311 ISO in VMWare and its failed too
Your best bet will be to boot with an Ubuntu 64bit CD and install Gentoo from there.
