basically it is the (open)ssll lib....
simple, but ugly solution - just rebuild empathy. (I ran into the same issue with chromium, and it works again after the rebuild)

revdep-rebuild -L libssl3.so.12
shows plenty of broken files like 100s
and finally it is going emerge as per 5_order.rr

| libssl3 is a part of nss, not openssl. |

now the error has changed to like the snapshot shown.
now it is not worried about libssl3 or so. it is worried about protocols.
what i need to install ? i want only yahoo msgr.
i dont know how this graphic screen appears

it is result of re emerging nss.
is it same as running revdep-rebuild -L libssl3.so.12 ?
getting a backend for yahoo protocol i emerged net-libs/libyahoo2,
x11-plugins/msn-pecan
it emerged pidgin also
empathy imported yahoo account from pidgin and it works now.
if i unmerge pidgin will empathy still work??
