So I installed Gentoo, and installed VMWare Tools from my VMWare Workstation. It chokes with this error:
Code: | * Collecting system binaries and libraries
* Found existing 1_files.rr
* Collecting complete LD_LIBRARY_PATH
* Found existing 2_ldpath.rr.
* Checking dynamic linking consistency
* Found existing 3_broken.rr.
* Assigning files to packages
* !!! /usr/lib/vmware-tools/lib32/libconf/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-jpeg.so not owned by any package is broken !!!
* /usr/lib/vmware-tools/lib32/libconf/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-jpeg.so -> (none)
* Generated new 4_raw.rr and 4_owners.rr
* Found some broken files, but none of them were associated with known packages
* Unable to proceed with automatic repairs.
* The broken files are listed in 4_owners.rr |
Short of installing VMWare tools from Portage (eix says that portage doesn't have VMWare tools), I don't know how to correct this. By the way, I have GTK+ 2.16.6 installed via portage. There are a lot of other libraries in that directory, but why is it that only libpixbufloader-jpeg is the only one showing up? _________________ When you are clever, you realize you are stupid; when you are stupid, you realize you are clever. |

I think it's trying to tell you that appart from that one broken file, nothing is wrong, so there is nothing to do. It can't fix that one, obviously, as it is something you put there without using portage. _________________ PKA Cuber

I know it can't fix it, but I'm just concerned in case in the future something happens, and I don't want revdep-rebuild to choke on this file and not fix the other stuff. _________________ When you are clever, you realize you are stupid; when you are stupid, you realize you are clever. |

I'm fairly certain it will spit out the same error, but then continue. Let us know if you experience otherwise. _________________ PKA Cuber
