I had to resize my partitions to give windows more room. I used partimage to backup my gentoo partitions. When I try to restore the root partition, partimage tells me the partition is too small to be restored and segfaults. The new partition is smaller than it was before but has plenty of space for my files. It's has 182G of space on it and the backup was around 37G. Is there some way to salvage my installation or am I going to have to reinstall?
It's probably worth mentioning that the backup is on a 160GB external drive. Can I somehow extract the backup there and copy it manually to the partition? Or at least extract the files from my home folder? |

Maybe you can mount the back up image as a loop-back device and copy it from there?
Code: | mount -o loop -t ext3 /path/to/image /mount/point |
replace ext3 with the actual filesystem. _________________ "Defeat is a state of mind. No one is ever defeated, until defeat has been accepted as a reality." -- Bruce Lee |
