Elleni
no idea about kde/qt error. I would need logs. though, kdelibs should pull all other required depends, except kstyles. ^^

and I found my missing kde widgets. the vcl widget plugin detection missed the obvious. just check files/fix-force-vclplug.diff. ;)

As its still emerging with -kde use, I will let it complete, and then re-try with kde enabled use. Then I will provide the needed log(s) :D

ok, I can confirm that with -kde it compiled fine.

Now when removing openoffice from package.use to reenable kde USE:

Doing an emerge world -uDNav the system complains:

Calculating dependencies ... done!

emerge: there are no ebuilds built with USE flags to satisfy ">=x11-libs/cairo-1.8.8[X,qt4]".
!!! One of the following packages is required to complete your request:
- x11-libs/cairo-1.8.8 (Missing IUSE: qt4)
(dependency required by "net-libs/xulrunner-1.9.2_beta5" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "app-office/openoffice-3.2.0.8_pre20091227" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "world" [argument])

What's an IUSE anyway, never heard about..

when reinstalling by doing an emerge openoffice then it starts uncompressing and unpacking stuff and so on, but after some 15 minutes it breaks complaining of missing qt4 support:

checking for sdext module... OK
checking whether to build the Wiki Publisher extension... no
checking whether to build the Report Builder extension... no
checking for Qt4 headers... /usr/include/qt4

the IUSE is just the portage internal name for useflag. why that fails is because I fiddle with xulrunner qt4 widgets. you may set in package.use 'net-libs/xulrunner -qt4' and 'www-client/mozilla-firefox -qt4' unless you want to work on mozillas qt4 code. ^^

you may disable ccache and I need the '/var/tmp/portage/app-office/openoffice-3.2.0.8_pre20091227/work/ooo-build-84bd52de6d70c9e5a9f3beeea415ea81be2c78b5/build/OOO320_m*/config.log'.

and this error is caused by unsupported USE="prefix" or other non-default setups.
patches would be welcomed then.

Thanks for explanation on iuse, as me as a noob never heard about and did not know, how to handle it.

Here s the mentioned log:
http://pastebin.com/f1cdcf1b7

I tried disabling ccache, but it does not let compile with the kde enabled useflag. On the other hand openoffice -kde use compiles fine with ccache enabled, here.

Well I did not realize, I have some non-default setup, nor did I think of having some special useflag setup. Here es my make.conf, thanks for pointing out if seeing any unusual/non-default setup.

CFLAGS="-march=native -O2 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

FEATURES="candy ccache parallel-fetch sandbox"
AUTOCLEAN="yes"
GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.switch.ch/mirror/gentoo"
INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse synaptics evdev"
LINGUAS="de en fr it el"
VIDEO_CARDS="intel vesa"
ALSA_CARDS="hda-intel"
CCACHE_DIR="/root/.ccache"
CCACHE_SIZE="2G"
source /usr/local/portage/layman/make.conf
PORTDIR=/usr/portage
#FETCHCOMMAND="/usr/bin/wget --limit-rate=20k \${URI} -P \${DISTDIR}"
#RESUMECOMMAND="/usr/bin/wget -c --limit-rate=20k \${URI} -P \${DISTDIR}"

Nevermind, I just wanted to contribute to gentoo by offering compile time and trying to emerge openoffice 3.2. just for curiosity. So thanks for info if finding some settings I should correct. Elseway I am looking forward to see ooo3.2 in portage tree soon.

Right now I am re-compiling world with your suggested: net-libs/xulrunner -qt4' and 'www-client/mozilla-firefox -qt4.

well, that is an experimental version for you. ;)

and...., found it. old 32bit system qt4 library path has not been fixed yet.
I hope my superficial hotfix applies. soon in overlay.

edit #1
o, and missed a backslash on multi-line copy command for the hotfixes. *yay*
- fixed, too.

... time to add the hotfixes to ooo-build, too.
a well, later ...

ok, cause even with subversion and firefox having been emerged with -qt4 did not enable me to emerge openoffice with kde useflag.

I am glad to hear, you found something so I guess the time spent was not useless :-)

stupid Q, but is -j1 still hardcorded in OO? i'd be more inclined to try it again if I could use distcc to build it.

afair I never added that.

does distcc spawn on only 'makes jobcount' computers?! :roll:
sounds wrong to me to chain them. ;)

I have cleaned the dependency list and configure flags. well, mostly only cosmetics. I hope I did not add a typo.

have fun testing! :twisted:

hmm, I do not check for en but en_US or en_GB. these two locales has openoffice.
the myspell dictionary has only en. hmm, now what funky hack ... :o

edit #1
okay, another round of small changes.

LINGUAS 'en_US' is now 'en'

have fun... bedtime ....

edit #2
just a note for me. time to mini-bump ooo-build and lift python dep.
pyuno is unmaintained(as reported on IRC) and needs python/C magic no more in python3.

thanks geki ! :)

it had some problem building on a kernel with BFS yesterday (the build-process hang and caused 0% CPU load) - so I'm trying to let it build on a kernel with CFS now

that sounds like the jemalloc with FEATURES="sandbox" issue. :o

well, I'll try to disable sandbox explicitly then

I've removed it from FEATURES already but I'm not sure if it's not still related to it ...

<-- that's the offending part

and it still just sits there while using a kernel with CFS scheduler :(

disabling sandbox let it continue - unfortunately libjemalloc.so doesn't seem to be in a good shape :? :lol:

1 module(s):
soltools
need(s) to be rebuilt

and before that it failed at another position :roll:

edit:

since firefox 3.5 and xulrunner 1.9.1 libjemalloc.so doesn't seem to be built anymore separately according to
http://bugs.gentoo.org/262205 (it's built into the final binary of firefox seemingly)

so I don't know how this all is supposed to work

lucky you :D

I'll see if I can extract libjemalloc.so from firefox 3.0.14 in some way and copy it to the /usr/lib64 where it's supposed to be

hopefully that'll work out :roll:

edit:

:oops: stupid me

I forgot how libjemalloc.so went to that directory in the first place

it's been some time since the last time I compiled openoffice

I had completely forgotten (re-)building libjemalloc.so by following the instructions in your wiki :oops:

edit2:

it builds now ! :D

with latest build the status bar is screwed up again

I see just a row of little blank rectangles that sometimes
- if I click on them - change to their proper form
