pappy_mcfae,
Many thanks for spending time on my kernel configuration. It seems to work and X is starting (as it did before since this is not my first install on this laptop). Anyway, I pasted my /var/log/dmesg in pastebin. Here is the link: http://pastebin.com/d60856a28
d2_racing,
I posted my glxinfo output here: http://pastebin.com/d7d2a8fdf
I really would like my to use my ATI graphics card as well (no I am using the intel). But so far I didn't manage to do so.
Ideally, I would like to be able to switch between graphics card... |

d2_racing,
Here it is:

3231 frames in 5.0 seconds = 646.154 FPS
3221 frames in 5.0 seconds = 644.158 FPS
3220 frames in 5.0 seconds = 643.542 FPS
3227 frames in 5.0 seconds = 645.332 FPS
XIO: fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server ":0.0"

pappy_mcfae,
I discovered a few things that seem to work worse with your kernel than they did before:
E.g., If I resize windows in X such as emacs it always lags a second or so. I pretty sure it wasn't like that before...
Second, the extra functional keys I have don't seem to work any more e.g. Fn+F2 doesn't look the screen etc.
That's all I discovered so far since I booted into the new kernel...
Edit: Top confirms my assertion. If I move around an emacs window it takes up to 40% of CPU before it took 1 or 2%.

d2_racing,
Yes, it works but as far as I can tell it's the intel card that is working not the ATI... |

pappy_mcfae,
I looked at the difference between our kernel config's. I tried to compile DRM as a module instead of building it into the kernel.
This helped to improve the lagging window issue I had before although I don't understand why... |
