Hi
I'm trying to use samba as domain controller in my network but after week of tests I had no luck.
Samba file sharing is easy to set up and everything which I needed is working.
I have big problem with setting samba as PDC. I was trying many different how-to's and configurations but I even can't log in / join the domain from win xp.
I't should be as easy as it: http://daniel.fiser.cz/?samba but it doesn't work at all. ;/
I would like to ask if anyone has some working configuration or very simple how-to. I'm quite desperate so any advice will be grate.
Thanks in advance
Pozdrawiam

I am not sure what you are trying to accomplish: Using Samba as PDC (i.e. NT 4 domain), or using Samba with Active Directory. These are mutually exclusive setups. If you are not using Samba 4 which is still alpha, there is no way to use Samba as an AD domain controller.
If you want a NT4-style PDC with Samba 3 / OpenLDAP I found this document useful in the past:
http://www.iallanis.info/smbldap-tools/docs/samba-ldap-howto/
For any other questions I would definitely recommend posting to the Samba mailing list as this is not really related to Gentoo. |
