Slow mouse movement in Quake 3 Arena

Hello,
this is a weird problem. My mouse in the Q3 menu moves quite slow (it's usable but feels weird) and to make the mouse move fast ingame, I have to use sensitivities around 10, while it's around 3 in Windows and I'm pretty sure that it was around 3 in Linux too when I played Quake 3 the last time in Debian or RedHat.
I can live with that, just wondered if it's usual? Maybe it's because of a new mouse, not sure if I had this very same mouse when I played in Linux last time. Is there a way to speed the mouse generally up so it doesn't feel like yelly anymore in the menu? It's the same weither I start Q3 from Gnome or exclusive (echo "exec quake3" > ~/.xinitrc && startx) so it's not the Gnome mouse setting.

Update: It's even worse, mouse acceleration is on. :( But cg_mouseaccel is 0. I really don't want any mouseacceleration, that is critical! So I really have to find a way to change my mouse settings for quake (at least get zero mouse acceleration), otherwise it won't be fun.

Hi,

there are two settings i know which trigger mouseaccel(not sure wether it is the same Accel, so i switched off both).
1.: in your XF86config add: Option "Accel" "Off"
to the InputDevice Section
2.: use xset(try "man xset", it's quiet easy to understand)
e.g. add "xset m 1/1" to your .xinitrc (the x/y option translates to: when
pointer is moved more than y pixel than accelerate movementspeed * x,
so a setting of 1/1 means no acceleration)

Using these two Options should ensure that there is no Mouseacceleration of any kind left :)

Thank you, I think that did it. :)
Now I wish I knew why my Gnome 2 mouse settings are acting weird (The "Sensitivity" Value seems to change my acceleration and the vice versa so when I set acceleration to "slow", I can barely move my pointer anymore even when sensitivity is set to high) but that's probably just a bug (it was working fine in RC3 under Debian).
