I need to install a few OpenType fonts for a project. According to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20854 recognition of OpenType font files is broken in applications that depend upon shared-mime-info for recognizing particular types of files. Apparently this has been fixed in shared-mime-info 0.70, although this is not yet in Portage.
After some cursory searching and consideration, I'm at a loss for the proper approach to resolving this issue expediently. Is there an overlay I'm not aware of which provides the newer version of the package, should I write my own ebuild before it turns up in the main tree, or what? I ask so open-endedly because I've not previously been in a position where I've needed something X11-related for such niche (but personally urgent) reasons and I want to avoid any additional footwork beyond getting OpenType fonts recognized correctly (visions of jacking up recognition of other file types abound here).
Suggestions? |

Sorry, neglected to point out that the broken version is 0.60. That's the latest version in portage, at present. |

A quick check after upgrading the package confirms that this does indeed fix the .otf problem referenced. Many thanks once again! |
