Artwork is excellent, but it's a shame all the picts are in JPEG not PNG )-:E
I see the pixel puddles all over the wallpapers.

Please consider changing format to PNG!

If you'd read the thread you might have seen a link to a bug posted by Azik that contains the original Photoshop files (which you can open, edit and then save as PNG in The GIMP), and this may resolve your issues.

Check out https://bugs.gentoo.org/287435

Yep, I've found link and got a PNG version, thank you. But I see no sense in JPEG at all, so I ask for other users (-:E

Congratulations Gentoo with your 10th birthday! :)

I've been using Gentoo since the 1.4 release, but I didn't use it much back then. But since the 2006.0 release I'am using It as my main OS. :D

Does anyone know where I can download the Gnome theme (which is bundled with the 'ten' release) ? Or is it available in the portage repository ?

And off course, Keep up the good work! 8)

Cool! I've used Gentoo since I got tired of Slackware in 2005, so 4 years and counting for me!

Happy Birtday/Grattis på födelsedagen! in swedish

I started using Gentoo in October 2002, my first Linux install ever. A friend from my dorm was using it and I thought his Gnome looked so good I wanted to try it out. I had also decided that when I wanted to test it, I should go all the way and uninstall Windows at the same time to make sure I didn't "give up" and revert just because old habits die hard. Said and done, he installed it for me and I haven't looked back since! I still remember me sitting next to him, not understanding a single command he wrote in the installer, hehe.

I really like the new wallpaper, it is without doubt the most beautiful Gentoo wallpaper ever. I actually think that design and art hasn't really been Gentoo's strong side, but that wallpaper might be the start of something new, I'm hoping so!

Anyhoooo, thanks for 10 great years, and for at least 10 more! You - the devs - have made it possible and we users thank you for all your time spent on this great distribution. It is very appreciated!

Happy Birthday Gentoo!

I haven't got my hands on livedvd yet, but it looks very promising! Also, would anyone mind updating Gentoo Wikipedia entry with a new screenshot from livedvd?

Does 10.0 replace 2008.1?

Will the future releases be named accordingly (eg. 10.1, 11.0)?

10x can replace the 2008 media for x86/amd64.
Any future release is likely to use a codename vs a versioned floating integer, which just ends up getting outdated too fast. So NO on the 11/12/13... 10.1 could be used if we find we have any minor bugs on the livedvd that need to be fixed.

i don't know if it's the right place to ask but has anyone tried to copy the iso img on a usb drive?
i used dd as suggested in the FAQ, then unetbootin and then the syslinux procedure described in the handbook but none of these has worked.

the pc actually boots from the usb drive but after loading the kernel and the modules it just hangs saying it cannot find the cdrom...
i tried using the slowusb option but it didn't help.

post this on the bug page, you'll find that on the first page of this thread. make sure to provide 'lspci' output.

Testing live-DVD worked great:).
But with "final" live-dvd after typing "gentoo' boot option, I can no longer use keyboard to get detailed view of boot process and when I get to KDE there is a frozen mouse arrow and no ability to use the keyboard. Using usb MS NaturalKeyboardPro and MS Intellieye mouse with scroll wheel and 2 buttons.
FAQ or readme for live-dvd doesn't cover this topic.
Thx.
