cdrom not mounting problem was already solved by removing scsi emulation option in the kernel config, (I was confused by still getting the error due to a blank disc after that, sorry)

old description:

Hi everybody,

I get this error when I try to mount my cdrom:

Quote:
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdroms/cdrom0, or too many mounted file systems

this is the line in the /etc/fstab

Code:
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0              /mnt/cdrom      iso9660         noauto,ro,user,umask=0000       0 0

It is working with my 2.6.7 kernel, and not working on my 2.6.9 (sleep) kernel

I checked my kernel config and could not find a problem.
Perhaps you can give me a hint, where to look at?

from dmesg:

Code:

hdc: MATSHITACD-RW CW-8123, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive
hdc: MDMA, cycleTime: 120, accessTime: 90, recTime: 30
hdc: Set MDMA timing for mode 2, reg: 0x00011d26
hdc: Enabling MultiWord DMA 2

(I also tried /dev/hdc in the fstab, same error :(

these are the corresponding lines from my .config file:

Code:

With the same combo driver (but on acer's notebook) and gentoo-dev-sources 2.6.10-r7 I have the same problems - but some dvds and cds work - it seems that the problem is with windows recorded multisession cds.

I also noticed alot of errors saying: attempt to access beyond end of device.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
