I'm trying to emerge xbmc 9.04.1 but the compilation fails with:
Code:
/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.2/../../../../i686-pc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: errno: TLS definition in /lib/libc.so.6 section .tbss mismatches non-TLS reference in libz.a(gzio.o)
/lib/libc.so.6: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
distcc[28293] ERROR: compile (null) on localhost failed
make[2]: *** [example] Error 1

make: *** [imagelib] Error 2

Anybody knows how to solve this?

Code:
# emerge --info

I'm just guessing, but it may be a problem with distcc,
more exactly perhaps on one of the hosts glibc is still in
non-TLS version and that messes things up.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm only using one distcc host, and I checked it, and it has exactly the same version glibc installed as the local system: sys-libs/glibc-2.9_p20081201-r2 (2.2)

I found out that when I manualy run configure and then make in the /var/tmp/portage/media-tv/xbmc-9.04.1/work/9.04.1_Babylon-linux-osx-win32/XBMC/xbmc/lib/cximage-6.0/zlib directory, it doesn't fail. Configure finds errno.h and it is then included, hence no compilation error.

But when I start the full emerge of xbmc it fails again with the same error..

Strange... it now compiles...without distcc...
I played a little with the source as I told in my previous post, and tried again without distcc and now it is succesfully compiled.

I can't believe my source-fiddling could be the solution, as I did a plain emerge afterwards, which removes the original work dir and extracts the source again.. But I'm also certain that I already tried it compiling a few times without distcc and even without ccache..never with success...

Ah wel, lets keep it at your suggestion was the solution. So thanks again VoidMage.
