I ALWAYS get "Invalid session, please resubmit form" when I try to post on these forums. Some times, I have to resubmit >> 20 times before my post is accepted. I have even been logged out and had to re-type posts because of this.

Do you frequent any other phpBB-based forums and do you have the same problem there? From what I've been able to find about this, it can be caused by a problem with cookies or possibly an ISP proxy. To my knowledge, there have been no recent forum upgrades that might cause this. It's exceedingly rare for other users--I could not find any other posts to confirm the problem.

Something to try: log out of the forums, delete all cookies for forums.gentoo.org and log back in. Any improvement?

That suggestion didn't fix the issue.

I'm almost certain this is an issue with PHPbb - I think it might be related to me having multiple tabs on the forum, in Firefox. It might be related to cookies and the presence of transparent proxies (over which I have no control) on my line to the Intarweb.

TBH the forums here are rubbish. The community rocks and the support is great but the forum implementation is completely useless. The search feature is totally broken, the session management is totally broken, there is no user-profile or user CP so you can't find threads you're subscribed to or have posted in.

Meh - ban me for that if you must.

Charlie, can you please post which browser and operating system you're using? Are there any proxies/firewalls involved?

I seem to be experiencing the same issue. I can eventually post, but at times, I may have to click the submit button 15-20 times (and wait for the POST to complete and state that my session is invalid). I'm using Firefox 3.5.3 with Kde 4.3.1. Also, unless I check the option to remember my credentials, I experience a serious issue with having to login on almost every page refresh. I haven't experienced this issue on other sites, or forums to this point.

I assume nearly all of us are using some variation of Linux, so perhaps its a server configuration issue with cookie/session management? Please let me know if I can provide any more help. Perhaps we can receive confirmation from others that this is happening to them as well.

I find when I'm behind a round robin proxy that this occurs...

I have certainly experienced this a lot in the past. It has stopped but still happens every now and again

the load-balancing attempts have really messed this up...

try egosearch (the "find your posts" link on the top right). I find this much nicer than having to go through a bunch of links to find a list of topics you've subscribed to - you immediately get a list of topics you've posted in, with no extra effort.

Original topic: I notice that message when my internet drops and I change IP.

Recently, I've had a lot of the immediate log-off going on... more tests with the load-balancing?
