Hello,
On gnome 2.26.3, my mouse sensitivity is too high.
I've tried to reduce it by sliding the speed & acceleration bars to the left on System > Preferences > Mouse.
I've also tried to reduce it by typing "xset m 1/10", and even lower values (1/3000).
But it's still too high, and I'm a bit stuck now.

The sensitivity was okay before I bought that new mouse (Razer diamondback), and it is okay with touchpad.
Thanks for your attention :)

qdii.

PS : Gentoo 64 bits, with 2.6.31 kernel.

This mouse is designed for nervous gamers.
The mouse defaults the resolution to 1800 dpi, which is far too fast.
The dpi is the measure for the mouse movement. The more you have dpi, the less you need to physically move your mouse to make your cursor move on the screen.
The results is that if the dpi is too high, the slighest movement throws the mouse cursor on the other side of the screen. This is mostly designed for high resolution screen (24" LCD and above).
For that, this mouse lets you change the resolution "on the fly", to reduce (or increase) the dpi, depending on your usage of the mouse, your skills, your screen size or your taste.

This dpi adjusment is managed through the windows driver. When set within the driver, you can change the default dpi of the mouse and the steps (many gamers mouse have 2 or 3 steps, adjustable in the driver, generally from 400 to 1800 dpi).
Some mouse then stores those dpi steps in their internal memory, some other need the driver to restore your settings. But you'll need windows to do that.

Hope this helps.

Yes those mice are fast, but previously setting
Code:
xset m 1/3 1

slowed them down to a usable speed even on 2000 dpi for me.
Since a few updates (i have xorg-1.6 and related in mind but not yet time to try) this has not the desired effect.
Also changing to 1/10 or similiar seems not to change this.
Luckily the mouse can be adjusted by hardware to use lower dpi (which in my understanding also reduces precision -> bad)

anyway if anyone has a solution let us know.
