What is the significance of the following kernel option (new in kernel 2.6.30 apparently):
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
PPC_OF_BOOT_TRAMPOLINE
Support from booting from Open Firmware or yaboot using an
Open Firmware client interface. This enables the kernel to
communicate with open firmware to retrieve system informations
such as the device tree.
In case of doubt, say Y

Is this what old-ish Macs have been doing all along, or does this enable some new capability (e.g., obviating yaboot)? |
