After recent upgrade I'm getting an error when trying to start the virtualbox:
Code:
Failed to access the USB subsystem.
Could not load the Host USB Proxy service: VERR_NOT_FOUND.

Details:
Result Code:
NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x00004005)
Component:
Host
Interface:
IHost {dab4a2b8-c735-4f08-94fc-9bec84182e2f}
Callee:
IMachine {5eaa9319-62fc-4b0a-843c-0cb1940f8a91}

"cat /etc/group" shows that I'm in vboxusers group
vboxusers:x:1009:thelma,fd

What else to try? I'm using Virtualbox 4.1.26

I assume you've tried the obvious "emerge virtualbox virtualbox-modules".

Do you have all 4 virtualbox modules loaded? lsmod should show that you have vboxpci, vboxnetflt, vboxnetadp, & vboxdrv loaded. If any of those were missing, that might cause the error you've seen.

I'm using "virtualbox-bin virtualbox-modules" and lsmod is showing:
Code:
Module                  Size  Used by
vboxnetflt             15085  0
vboxdrv              1780606  1 vboxnetflt

What is exactly what is on my working system. I'll try to rebuild: virtualbox-bin virtualbox-modules

Are you sure you don't need app-emulation/virtualbox-extpack-oracle for USB2 support? I thought it was required on the host.

I don't think so.
I have five system that are working OK without that package except one.

SOLVED
I re-installed: virtualbox guest addition and the problem went away.
