What's the best way to install Gentoo on a system (a Dell I8000 laptop) that doesn't have a regular and persistent connection to the Internet?
I only have a high-speed connection when I attend my local user group's installfest and that's only for a few hours, once a month.
I can leave the system on at home at let it compile unattended as much as I want.
I have the version 1.1a and 1.2 CDs. _________________ "I'm looking over a three-leaf clover that I overlooked be-three!" - Bugs Bunny

Well, you can bring your laptop in, get it on a network, and "emerge -f" everything you want. That'll grab the source (and all necessary files) and stick them in /usr/portage/distfiles; then, just bring your computer home and emerge (with no parameters) the programs you downloaded earlier. All done! _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
