Bootstrap Error, wtf does that mean?

hey, i go do:
#cd /usr/portage
#scripts/bootstrap.sh
------------------------
now thats what the manual says to do, but i get an error along the way about 2 mins through, saying:
!!! ERROR:sys-devel/gettext-0.12.1 failed
!!! Function econf, Line 324, Exitcode 1
!!! econf failed

now im really getting pissed off at this and i want to start from stage1, but i cant keep gettin this error, cuz my whole system work work properly, PLEASE HELP!!!

yeah, i'm getting the same error, gonna try it again in a few minutes, i really wanna do a stage 1 install.

Are you using aggressive CFLAGS ?

The error you posted is not helping us much.

Could you please copy the last 30-40 lines and paste them. The reason for this is that the gettext emerge failed and there should be a more descriptive error above the lines that you pasted in.
