I agree! Can I have one?
Although in my defense, I do admin 3 gentoo servers so at least in my case having a forum account is appropriate
Wait, make that four. Forgot about my file server here at home. |

Looks like we'll be in open beta pretty "soon" anyway.
But I didn't realise that ppl did that until I had already given keys away.
Will hold on to the rest for a little while and see if any more of my friends want any. |

odd, there are a few gentoo users who play HoN, I post a bit on the beta forums (help where I can in the linux support thread) and few gentoo users do pop up, also one of the mod's use gentoo "IAmRoot" _________________

I don't play very often. (though I'd like too) But when I do I already have a clan with my friends I'm guessing that will be the case for some others too |

This thread alone has made moving over to Gentoo very much worth it
Now, just to fix up the RAM problem and wait for open beta. Hm, wonder what'll happen first... |

The RAM problem.
As to open-beta, not for a little bit, earliest end of the year. They will open it to /really/ stress the network. _________________

Well, you'll be surprised just how lazy I can get with hardware...
End of this year doesn't sound at all bad, though! |

offtopic:
oh i see gentoo has a HoN board as well, cool =)
started using gentoo recently, and have to say i'm liking it (compiling got easier when you have 6 cores to do the work ), used to use archlinux, which had a similar mind
ontopic:
So how is HoN compared to DotA? I used to play (and still do) DotA a lot, probably if you would rank my playtime in any game, DotA would come top 2.
I wonder if they managed to resolve the 'leaver issue' that any DotA player is well familiar with - i.e people leaving after a while when they get beaten up a lot.
The other problem with DotA is ability to feed (unwillingly) the other team, that is, you keep giving the similar amount of gold each time you die, no matter how often you have died, unless you had a streak of kills or something.
Those two issues resulted in a pretty rude community, well, compared to other games.
Also how does it run on linux? Natively or through wine? Since, well, if this thing is better than DotA, and if it runs perfectly through linux (Warcraft doesn't even run on gentoo 64bit, unless you use a 32bit chroot (or virtualbox like me), since it requires wine compiled with gnutls and gentoo doesn't give 32bit gnutls, but that's another topic), I'll probably gladly give 30$, that is, if you can buy it online, since knowing my country, that will come here with 1 year delay.
PS: oh, and if it anyone has a key to spare, send it this way (otherwise you'll force me to make a facebook account!) |

It runs natively, has much less heroes though.
As it's an open beta the leaver problem is still an issue because if your leave % gets too high you can just scrounge another key.
The community is just as awful I would say. (There are of course exceptions ) |

Yeah, i did manage to get the key in the end, game's really nice, through the first one crashed for me half in the game .
What I did find very annoying was the crappy sound, anyone else experiencing this? I'm using pulseaudio atm, but if that's the cause I'm going to be getting rid of it! |

Oh, thanks, yeah, that seems to work, though for a more detailed analysis I will have to play the game, will do that later tomorrow. |
