This shows the fglrx config detecting my video card:

Probing PCI bus for a supported graphics device...
found: RV250/M9 (IN)
PCI bus slot: PCI:1:0:1

entering the detected PCI bus slot into the XF86Config-4 file.

---------------------------------------------------------------
This is the error I get with the config it made:

(WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:0) found
(EE) No devices detected.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

----------------------------------------------------------------
This is the error I get when I use a working XF86Config and replace the "radeon" driver with fglrx

(WW) fglrx: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found
(EE) fglrx(0): DRIScreenInit failed!
Module called exit() function with value=1
XIO: fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

Any help would be appreciated

Backup your XF86Config and run fglrxconfig as root to create a new XF86Config. Also remember: don't have DRI compiled into your kernel and load the kernelmoodule fglrx before creating a new config...

In the config file, try changing the 1:0:1 bus ID to 1:0:0. There's a post in this thread by KillaK that describes the problem in more detail.
