we had an event within ppcnux and we had an XServ avaible.
The LiveCD (install - CD) can boot, we were aible to run Xfree,
but unfortunatly KDE hangs the system when startet.
It was a XServ, Dual Proz., around 1 GHz, some disks.
As a lack to connect to the internet (T-Online, the leading ISP within germany is not able to send the access-data, technicaly its just ready to work, but without authentication , ....) we were not able to go further.
The Kernel was just the Kernel found on the CD, we didn't build a smp-kernel special to the XServ.
You will find some pictures later (when I have access provided by german T-Online to the internet) which shows gentoo on the Xserv on www.ppcnux.de (it could be, that it take a long time to wait, as I remember the performance of t-online (the last years I was a customer of another ISP) right...
We also hat OSX 10.3, a developer Preview installed. We didn't faced the yaboot - OF - Problems as described at www.penguinppc.org.
But its possible, that we hadn't the latest version of a OSX 10.3 Dev-Preview on the box and we didn't upgraded it (as we had no access to the internet, GRR !)
krgds,
Frank
BTW : these XServ is so "laud", do they switch it off when diving more or less soundless in a Us-Navy Submarine ?
these Xserv cries : here we are, easy to find ....
however, loud.... _________________ always look at yellow site of Linux on the PPC.
