cant burn DVDs

hey folks, I have a
badman dvd+rw-tools-7.1-r1 # cat /proc/ide/hdb/model
ATAPI DVD LS 8X16X8X16
Lightscribe dvd burner and some CD-RW media that im trying to format/burn
running Linux 2.6.28-tuxonice-r3 and dvd+rw-tools-7.1-r1

and I always get

any ideas on how to fix? I dont have any other media I can test with..

I would try more than 1 type of media (lightscribe, single-layer, dual-layer, etc.) to see what happens. Also, try another DVD burning tool and see what happens with that. If other media and/or other tools work, then at least you've narrowed it down to a problem with this software. If not, then something isn't configured right for your burner to work.

fortunately a friend of mine had a DVD+W (not rewritable) and it seemed to burn just fine..
sooooo I guess I should find some DVD+RW ?

Yeah, that's what I would do. Best thing is usually to work with the process of elimination, taking one thing at a time.
