Hi,
I have just update my Portage form 1.9.13 (I think) to 2.0.11.
Every time I try to do a
I get the following error.
Code: | >>> starting rsync with rsync://cvs.gentoo.org/gentoo-x86-portage...
rsync: failed to connect to cvs.gentoo.org: Connection refused
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(89)
|
What should I do to fix this? _________________ Many greetings from Germany,

Can you ping out to anywhere? Can you ping that cvs.gentoo.org or what ever it was? Sounds like maybe a networking thing then a portage thing |

Something really old got into your system. Portage is trying to rsync to cvs.gentoo.org, which was changed months ago.
Add the following to /etc/make.conf, and everything should be good:
Code: | SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" |
Also, BTW, a "connection refused" means that your computer was able to reach the other computer but that the other computer said "no", so the network is functional. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs.

You're right. This line is commented in the default make.conf. Portage has downloaded this new one and I moved over my old, this was the problem! _________________ Many greetings from Germany,

I had the same problem. There is bad make.conf update file. I thought it was my editimg. If fghellar still has that ._cfg.. he could file a bug report. |

Yes you are right.
