Hi,
I have just update my Portage form 1.9.13 (I think) to 2.0.11.
Every time I try to do a
I get the following error.

rsync: failed to connect to cvs.gentoo.org: Connection refused
rsync error: error in socket IO (code 10) at clientserver.c(89)

What should I do to fix this?

| Can you ping out to anywhere? Can you ping that cvs.gentoo.org or what ever it was? Sounds like maybe a networking thing then a portage thing |

Network is fine, I can ping cvs.gentoo.org and I can surf around the web!

Something really old got into your system. Portage is trying to rsync to cvs.gentoo.org, which was changed months ago.
Add the following to /etc/make.conf, and everything should be good:
| Code: | | SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" |
Also, BTW, a "connection refused" means that your computer was able to reach the other computer but that the other computer said "no", so the network is functional.

You're right. This line is commented in the default make.conf. Portage has downloaded this new one and I moved over my old, this was the problem!

| I had the same problem. There is bad make.conf update file. I thought it was my editimg. If fghellar still has that ._cfg.. he could file a bug report. |
