For example >=x11-libs/libX11-1.1.99.1 required by (x11-libs/libXext-1.1.2-r1, installed). 9999 satisfies that dependency so I'm confused at what the conflict is. Perhaps libX11 is a virtual which conflicts with the nonvirtual package libX11 which for some reason doesn't satisfy the virtual of the same name?
EDIT: In testing whether this has to do with the xcb useflag on mesa and libX11, media-video/vlc requires +xcb on libX11 for some reason even if -xcb is set for vlc. I'm not sure why this is forcing a downgrade of libX11 to a version not compatible with mesa-9999. For some reason portage wants mesa-9999 and libX11 downgraded while still showing all these weird self-conflicts. Can't determine whether it's related to the xcb useflag because VLC won't allow me to disable it regardless of it's setting.

It *is*xcb. For some reason libX11 forces off the xcb use flag. I'm still trying to force it back on without success. _________________ Cheers,
