Code:

$ wmix
wmix: malloc.c:3074: sYSMALLOc: Assertion `(old_top == (((mbinptr) (((char *) &((av)->bins[((1) - 1) * 2])) - __builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd)))) && old_size == 0) || ((unsigned long) (old_size) >= (unsigned long)((((__builtin_offsetof (struct malloc_chunk, fd_nextsize))+((2 * (sizeof(size_t))) - 1)) & ~((2 * (sizeof(size_t))) - 1))) && ((old_top)->size & 0x1) && ((unsigned long)old_end & pagemask) == 0)' failed.
Aborted
$ wmvolman

** (process:7502): WARNING **: hal.c/375: could not find volume devices: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.8" (uid=1000 pid=7502 comm="wmvolman ") interface="org.freedesktop.Hal.Manager" member="FindDeviceByCapability" error name="(unset)" requested_reply=0 destination="org.freedesktop.Hal" (uid=0 pid=4406 comm="/usr/sbin/hald --use-syslog --verbose=no "))

Not much else to add. I have no idea when did this start. I have been some months without testing these. However, it must be some hal permissions thingie. If I su them to root, then they start without much problem. Any idea where to start looking?

Thanks.

Have you updated hal recently? If not, maybe try that.

It's already the latest in ~amd64.

It's not an ABI/API problem, since it compiles and in any case, it runs ok as root. I've tested reverting to the latest stable, just for the sake of trying, but it doesn't make a difference. I really have no idea where to start looking on this one :D

Thank you for the response, nonetheless. :)
