I dunno, Google is near instantanous to load for me on most any broadband or LAN connection..
So no issues with load time, though I likely would have mine blank or set to a local page if I was on dialup or something. |

I'm working on an xml/xsl combination to allow for a simple bookmarks homepage. Future modifications will probably include a web-based frontend for editing the xml file.
XML File
XSL File
What do you think? The XML structure contains the root <links> element and the following, which can be placed in any order:
- <folder> Can contain any of the elements below. heading attribute required.
- <link> Physical link to a webpage. Contents are familiar name/nickname for link, and required attribute uri is... you guessed it, the uri.
- <line/> Simple horizontal rule. Takes no extra info.
- <search> Presents a text box and button to submit to a certain search engine. The service attribute indicates which service (ie: Google) to use. Default value for service is "google", but no other search engines have been implemented yet. (It's really not that hard to do).

My homepage is at Excite.com. I have kept it there for nearly 4 years now. I first used it as my homepage when Excite.com was still part of ATT@Home. Remained with them after the two parted. It is pretty good despite the adds. But if you use Mozilla-Firebird or Netscape 7.1 (Yeah I still have to use Windows), the pop ups and cookies are blocked _________________ My Company: Hakata Consulting |

No, they haven't made it suck enough for non-subscribers to make me want to subscribe. I don't mind the adds, or seeing my news a few minutes later than subscribers. It is still news to me _________________ -Gabe

Strange... I can get it from here (file is on-campus and I'm on a different net).
Anyways, I updated the xml file to be what I'm currently using. PM me if you're still having access problems. _________________ Get Firefox!

Ok, I see now. But it's just text? I guess I expected a page of links. Or did I misunderstand the whole idea? Actually, I have no idea what xml/xsl (excel..?) is. I should just be quiet...
Just one more try: having your bookmarks on the net is a great idea. No matter what browser you use, or what os you use, or even if you're browsing from somebody else's computer you have all your bookmarks right there, clickable, not even some silly menu to enter. Is that what you're doing? I'd like to play around with something like that. Xml... I'll have to check it out some day. |

I am not sure if you were implying that this 'feature' is specific to Opera or not... but if you were, about:blank = nothing in Mozilla. _________________ -Gabe

at work I have the client's intranet in IE and www.gentoo.org in mozilla.
Gota keep hugly intranet because otherwise I don't remember the adress and I do need it.
At home I use almost only mozilla and it's on gentoo.org
on IE it's set to my xbox's FTP _________________ Someone asked me once if I suffered from mental illness. I told him I enjoyed every second of it.
