Thanks, but it doesn't work.
I'm trying to use kde-testing which should be buildable with a few minor hiccups right?
So as per your instructions
Code: |
cd /etc/portage/package.keywords
cp /path/to/kde-4.2.keywords/file
emerge -av kde-meta:4.2
|
with the following blocks
Code: |
emerge -av @kde-4.2
These are the packages that would be merged, in order:
Calculating dependencies... done!
!!! Multiple package instances within a single package slot have been pulled
!!! into the dependency graph, resulting in a slot conflict:
x11-libs/qt-core:4
('ebuild', '/', 'x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.2', 'merge') pulled in by
>=x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.1:4[qt3support,ssl] required by ('ebuild', '/', 'kde-base/ksirk-4.2.4', 'merge')
('ebuild', '/', 'x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.1', 'merge') pulled in by
~x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.1[glib,qt3support,-debug] required by ('ebuild', '/', 'x11-libs/qt-gui-4.5.1', 'merge')
~x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.1[qt3support,-debug] required by ('ebuild', '/', 'x11-libs/qt-sql-4.5.1', 'merge')
~x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.1[-debug] required by ('ebuild', '/', 'x11-libs/qt-script-4.5.1', 'merge')
(and 3 more)
It may be possible to solve this problem by using package.mask to
prevent one of those packages from being selected. However, it is also
possible that conflicting dependencies exist such that they are
impossible to satisfy simultaneously. If such a conflict exists in the
dependencies of two different packages, then those packages can not be
installed simultaneously.
For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page
or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "~x11-libs/qt-gui-4.5.2[qt3support]" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- x11-libs/qt-gui-4.5.2-r1 (masked by: ~amd64 keyword)
For more information, see the MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge
man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.
(dependency required by "x11-libs/qt-core-4.5.2" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "kde-base/ksirk-4.2.4" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "@kde-4.2" [argument])

Any suggestion on how to get by this? I think I've done all the normal block removal stuff but this is getting silly. |

I may be wrong but enable dbus and qt3support USE flags for Qt4 ebuilds or globally in make.conf - they are needed for KDE4. _________________ Maciek |

I ended up turning on ~amd64 which got past that problem.
Now however if I do emerge -up world I get a ton of blocks. Most seeming to do with 9999 files. Perhaps I've messed things up somehow.
I remember when gentoo was understandable. Now it is just too complex. |
