In the installation process when I type:
Code: | (none) linux# /etc/fstab |
it returns with the response:
Code: | bash: /etc/fstab: Permission denied |
I am logged in as root obviously, yet I still don't have permission? How can I remedy this situation.
It's probably something simple I know, I am a newbie
Thanks,

Just typing "/etc/fstab" will result in your shell attempting to execute /etc/fstab, which is silly.
You're probably wanting to edit it; use "nano -w /etc/fstab". _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

Thanks, I was just about to ask the same question myself (yup, I'm dumb).
Although, I think the Gentoo installation instructions should be changed, there's no point in giving code listings that don't work. That too, is silly |

Hmmm... it doesn't say to try to run /etc/fstab. It says:
Quote: | Note: At the moment the only editor installed by default is nano, a small and very easy-to-use visual editor. Use nano with the -w option to turn off automatic line-wrapping.
...
The first file we need to configure is /etc/fstab. |
It's not totally clear, but it seems reasonably clear to me. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
