I forgot to compile devfs support into my kernel during the install. Now, I'm sad, because I need it.
I can't recompile the kernel with a normal boot right now, because the computer is locked into read-only because it can't load devfs. My question is, can I use the install CD, go back, and recompile the kernel without reinstalling anything else? If I can, I'd like to see the steps as to how.
Thanks. |

sweet, now just one more question.
when I try to run 'make menuconfig', I'm informed that make doesn't exist. I'm guessing that's because of the weird directory structure I have while I'm booting off the CD. How can I run make in this setup? |

chroot into your Gentoo install, and "cd /usr/src/linux" first. menuconfig should work just fine. _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |
