I'm installing Gentoo. I need to update portage to continue the installation. When I try to update portage, the ebuild fails. It's clear that this is because I have no C++ compiler. I have gcc... but not g++.
Any ideas for what I can do to remedy the situation? |

Duncan_L,
Its quite difficult to not install a c++ compiler. Check your and perhaps choose another gcc version.
Please post your output, so we can see how your system is set up. _________________ Regards,

If you are starting with a stage1 tarball, the procedure is slightly different than if you were doing a normal stage3 installation. |

Duncan_L,
To build on what cyrillic said, stage1 is broken. It tries to use C++ before the C++ compiler is made _________________ Regards,

i've got around by STAGE1_USE="nocxx" emerge -e system on a recent stage1 install and then emerge -1 gcc. |
