|
|
My evolution recently failed.
When it start up it gives me the welcome screen for configuring my email account, instead of the evolution gui.
(I've used evolution in a couple of years in my computer and already have 4 or 5 email accounts configured.)
I've had a similar problem before, but forgot how to men it!
(Possibly add a mail account and the old ones show up)
Version is evolution-2.24.5 |

hi frigger,
have you checked your ~/.evolution/-Configuration-Directory?
I never have had this issue since i use evolution.. past all the updates. Try to open a terminal and start the application from there.
Maybe you will receive some more informations about this...?
Or you have just lost your Configuration. Some issues could be:
You have moved, renamed or delete your ./.evolution directory or your /home Partition (if you have this one on a differently) is not mounted.
Or you could not access it, and changed you file-access-Rights.
Good Luck! |

Still the same, no info with debug.

No everything seems to bee in place.
Evolution doesn't seem to read the mail config.
However I managed to fix it. Here's how for the records.
1. Backup ~/.evolution (extremly important)
2. Create an account (I made a new gmail account), you could make use of a old one.
When evolution starts you'll be left with an empty mailbox and a new ~/.evolution directory. |
3. Copy your ~/.evolution backup over the new one (replacing existing files) for search folders, archived mail etc.
4. Add your missing accounts if you have any in preferences. |
