Why several month after release of python 3.0 there is no ebuild for it in portage? Soon gentoo will be the only distro without py3k package. There is no bug for it in bugzilla, why?

What you mean like 250186 and the associated overlay?

Its not so much getting Python-3.0 into portage, but migrating all the ebuilds that depend on some version or other of Python to support 3.0 if they do/sort out slots etc.

I missed that bug. About other packages: I think portage should at least provide just python3 without any other python modules. Modules could be updated if/when they will support python3. I don't see any harm in having python3 executable in system as long as python 2.5 is used by default and everything else works.

Thats exactly what the overlay is for.

Install layman, install the overlay, play away to your hearts content.
