|
|
Hi,
I did a clean gentoo Insstall within vmware due to internet connection reasons. Then I copied the files from the virtual partitions to real ones on my hd. I chrooted and installed grub, edited /etc/fstab etc. and I also set the root password with passwd. When I reboot now, everything boots up but when I type login: root
password: XXXXXXX
I get a wrong password or authentication failed message.
That also happens when I chroot in vmware, su to another user, and try to su back to root.
I think this is strange.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in Advance,

If you can chroot into your Gentoo system, you should be able to run "passwd" again to change your password... _________________ I don't believe in witty sigs. |

Yes, I'm able to, but when I then try to log in normally,
the password I set isn't accepted. And I just have no idea why.
