Where did the mirrors link go from the side panel
There is one link to the mirrors page - in the news about weekly builds, buts it's really far down right now. |

On the downloads page (where it's always been). I left it out when I restructured the menu because it's already on the downloads page and I felt it was unnecessary to have it listed directly on the left. I suspect most people aren't interested in finding specific mirrors - they use the links on the downloads page to have a mirror chosen for them. It's a balance between quick access to common pages and not overloading the visitor with information/choices. _________________ http://gentoo-wiki.com :: http://lug.org.uk :: http://www.linux.org/groups/ :: User Blogs |

Ok, then I always used the mirrors and not the downloads, so I thought that it just got lost in the process ;] |

Are there to be no more newsletters?!? I really liked them, especially the statistics, more "human interest" stories about Gentoo and news about documentation updates. Say it ain't so! _________________ I like Linux. |

We're working on a better way to do those, too. _________________ Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Just wanted to say...this makes me proud to be a gentoo user again. Just noticed today on the frontpage that World of Goo had been added.
It makes me feel that the community may be getting it's second wind, or returning to the old days. _________________

Do we have to paint an overly rosy picture for them? I think seeing all the gritty details of GLSAa, blog posts, new packages etc might give them a feeling of a sort of a bustling town square.
And that's probably quite an accurate comparison of the stuff going on with Gentoo, no single boss to push you around, lots of people doing things on their own terms. It will scare some away and make others cover in awe, but I still think it's good.
So, I'm probably biased and cannot think for non-gentoo visitors, but I really like the new front page. Thank you! |
