Code:
<<<          dir /usr/i686-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/4.3.2
>>> Regenerating /etc/ld.so.cache...
>>> Original instance of package unmerged safely.
* gcc-config: Active gcc profile is invalid!
* Switching native-compiler to i686-pc-linux-gnu-4.3.3...
* gcc-config: Active gcc profile is invalid!

* Your gcc has a bug with GCC_SPECS.
* Please re-emerge gcc.

Let me guess, you just upgraded gcc from 4.3.2 to 4.3.3?

If so, and 4.3.2 was what you were using, then when 4.3.2 was removed at the end of the 4.3.3 merge the 4.3.2 spec files were removed to.

Just run `gcc-config -l` to see which you have available, and then use gcc-config to set it to 4.3.3.

And maybe file a bug, 'cause I'm pretty sure portage should have taken care of this for you.

Thanks, Hopeless, that's exactly what happened.

Running gcc-config was the first thing I did, and it turned out normal:

Code:
# gcc-config -l
 [1] i686-pc-linux-gnu-4.3.3 *

So I guess I don't need to remerge gcc as it says?

Ah, I get it. I updated gcc, but there was also an update to sys-devel/gcc-config, which I didn't install.
Code:
[ebuild     U ] sys-devel/gcc-config-1.4.1 [1.4.0-r4] 0 kB [0]

That's probably why it happened.
