Well, I finally picked up a new SBUS card to I've got network connectivity to the SPARCStation 20 .. 384M and dual Ross Hypersparc 150's
The system won't boot gentoo-smp
The system will boot gentoo-up, but segfaults when I try to turn on swap
I'm proceeding without swap for now, but I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light? The box previously was running Solaris 9 without much problem .. |

Depending on where you are starting from, this might be OK. I went through
something like this when bringing up an SS20-SMP, and with a lot of
help, I hit on the following sequence:
[list]
[*] the '-smp' kernel as provided does not work.
[*] The segfaults when adding swap are "expected and harmless." The
swap does get added OK.
[*] So, running in '-up' mode, make sure 'gcc' is up to date.
[*] Build a kernel from 'sparc-sources-2.4.21-r1' for SMP
[/elist]
The resulting system (for me, at least) is very stable.
Hope this is of some use.
