Hello,
I was wondering, if there is any updated Gentoo howto for setting up openldap + samba (+replication) server?
It seems slapd.conf is deprecated in favour of ldif files and no howto seems to cover this?
Thank you

I'd suggest having a look at the OpenLDAP and Samba forums/mailing lists for a question this generic.
Do you have a particular query or problem in mind?
No idea what slapd.conf being deprecated in favour of LDIF means - they are rather different things. slapd.conf is a configuration file for a LDAP daemon and LDIF is a standardised format for shovelling LDAP related data around.
Cheers
Jon
