|
|
Normally when I plug in a USB drive SCSI emulation starts up and assigns it starting at sdc1 and goes up from there. I plugged in a new Fujifilm Finepix S1000 and get this output from dmesg
Code: | usb 1-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 3
usb 1-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice |
For a flash drive I normally get
Code: |
usb 1-7: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5
usb 1-7: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
scsi4 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 5
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
scsi 4:0:0:0: Direct-Access Secure Guard PMAP PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 CCS

sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cache: write through
sdc: sdc1
sd 4:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI removable disk
usb-storage: device scan complete |
and can mount it from there as /dev/sdc1
Do not all camera's appear as USB mass storage devices? The only SD card reader I have is the camera itself and its a haste to go do this on a windows box downstairs... |

BK201,
Some cameras appear as USB storage and others as Picture Transport Protocol (PTP) devices.
Some can even be switched between the two modes.
emerge gphoto and see if it knows about you camera _________________ Regards,

Looks like gphoto doesn't yet support the s1000fd. Its not listed on the supported cameras page and it doesn't recognize the camera after emerging with CAMERA="fuji" in make.conf. Guess I'll just have to stick to windows for now to get pics off it. |

Looks like the newer Fujis are handled by the ptp2 driver. Maybe you could hack a line for your camera into the source.
If you know what that means, start looking at the source at http://gphoto.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/gphoto/trunk/libgphoto2/camlibs/ptp2/library.c?view=log
