sys-apps/portage has disappeared after "emerge -u" [SOLVED]

Hello,

As you have read from the subject, an usual "emerge -u portage" has destroyed the package itself.
I can't anymore use both /usr/bin/emerge and /usr/bin/ebuild in order to recover simply because they are no more there.
Running "qcheck sys-apps/portage" returns "Checking sys-apps/portage-2.2_rc20 ... 0 out of 0 file are good".

At the moment I am so angry that I haven't yet got the smallest idea on how to solve this problem.
May someone help me? I thank in advance everyone who will reply.
